Caribou - Lynx Street

Hindle Architects is working with Banff Caribou Properties on a new staff housing development located along Lynx Street in Banff. The project will provide 95 homes in a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units, helping address the growing need for attainable housing within the community.

The development is organized as a series of smaller building forms that reduce the perceived scale of the project while creating opportunities for landscape, outdoor amenity, and pedestrian-focused spaces. This approach also maximizes access to natural daylight, fresh air, and views for residents throughout the development. A central courtyard provides shared gathering areas, including outdoor hosting and dining spaces, along with bicycle parking, supporting community and everyday use by residents. 

The architectural expression draws from the character of Banff’s mountain environment and established residential neighbourhoods. Natural materials, articulated massing, and carefully considered roof forms help integrate the project into its alpine context.
