The intersection of 1st Street and 7th Avenue SW has been a prominent site in Calgary’s history, having served as a central hub for development for over 100 years. Today, the intersection continues to influence the skyline, with the recent construction of The Bow, Brookfield Place and TELUS Sky.
This important renovation project will enhance the Len Werry Complex’s contribution to the public realm by creating a safe and welcoming experience for the public. Improved entrance lobbies, new commercial retail space and the installation of digital art will create a continuous and vibrant street level experience along the 7th Avenue LRT platform between Brookfield Plaza and TELUS Sky.
Historic ceramic gargoyles from the original Herald building (demolished in 1972) will be incorporated within elegant street-facing displays, providing a unique feature that will be visible from both the TELUS lobbies and the public realm.
